Science in the service of geotechnical projects
In addition to design work, Georock Consulting is actively involved in scientific research and development in the field of rock mechanics and geotechnical engineering. This allows us to introduce solutions into projects that follow modern global trends.
Remote sensing technologies and Discrete fracture networks
We are among the first in the region to apply remote sensing technologies:
- photogrammetry (SfM) for geotechnical surveying of slopes and tunnels
- formation of discrete fracture networks based on 3D point clouds
- extraction of engineering geological parameters directly from the digital model
This approach enables more precise characterization of rock mass discontinuity network and significantly outperforms conventional manual mapping methods, particularly on high and inaccessible slopes.
New rock mass classification systems and probabilistic approach
We are engaged in the development of advanced classification systems for the categorization of excavations and the determination of strength and deformability parameters in complex rock masses, where existing approaches are often insufficient. We place particular emphasis on probabilistic methods and risk management, recognizing that uncertainty is an inherent aspect of geotechnical engineering.
We actively share the knowledge gained through our work with the professional and academic community through publications, lectures, and collaboration with universities – while our clients benefit directly through more advanced and reliable engineering solutions.
